Relief for us Wombles as #AFCWimbledon hit the 50 point target #fanpowerstadium

Well, yesterday afternoon AFC Wimbledon went past the 50 point target our manager Terry Brown had set at the start of our first season back in the football league.  Beating Torquay at home was no mean feat, keeping a clean sheet was almost a miracle given the number of errors that have led to goals conceded this year.  But the Wombles sit in 16th on 51 points and looking forward to a better League 2 campaign next season with more experience and hopefully a bit more concentration!

I think many struggle to understand quite how small a club we are and how short of funds we are to pay fees and high wages compared to other clubs in our league such as Crawley, Shrewsbury, Swindon and Oxford.  It will be interesting to see how we fare next season given that it would appear the clubs coming into the league are less well of than those departing!  I am optimistic that we could have a tilt at the play offs, although i said that last october when we were in the play off places – look what happened since then!

But i struggle to believe that there any Wombles out there who are not thrilled with seeing us safe with several games to spare and looking forward to next season when our Womble adventure continues…

By the way, the hashtags are for a competition for football league clubs to win money through making noise on social networks so please all fellow Wombles use those hashtags all the time!
